Under State of Florida guidelines, a Homemaker/Companion
is designated for work within a home environment to provide non-hands-on
assistance.
Homemaker/Companions can provide:
Meal preparation
Shopping and running errands
Non-medical client transportation
Housekeeping, including:
Sweep floors
Vacuum floors
Mop floors (using sponge mop or cotton mop)
Clean bathroom
Wipe kitchen cupboards
Take out garbage
Remove old food items from refrigerator
Make beds
Laundry
Fold and put away clothes
Limitations: A Homemaker/Companion cannot administer medications
of any kind although they can remind the patient to take medications.
A Homemaker/Companion cannot perform hands-on care including bathing.
